Start with the basics

A healthy habitat begins with the needs of your species. Before adding more decoration or equipment, confirm the essentials: a safe temperature range, appropriate humidity, clean water, secure hides, and enough room for natural movement.

Check the climate first

Use a reliable thermometer and check the warm and cool areas of the enclosure. Measure at the level where your reptile actually spends time, then make changes gradually.

Build usable space

A good habitat gives your reptile options: a secure place to retreat, surfaces to explore, and enough open space to move naturally. Choose sturdy, species-appropriate pieces and keep the enclosure easy to clean.
